Stefano Pioli talked to Sky after the defeat against Gasperini's team at the San Siro. He was asked about the choice to put Meité in the starting lineup with Kessié and Tonali, this is what he had to reply with:

"I thought we needed a more physical midfielder there, their positions are particular. Having Diaz on the bench would have allowed me to include a player with other characteristics, better at dribbling and one-on-one."
