Tragic news came when Seid Visin was found dead. He is a former AC Milan player who also was in the ranks of Benevento.
According to Corriere della Sera, the young boy left a suicide note highlighting the racist abuse that led him to take his own life:
"Wherever I go, I feel the weight of the sceptical, biased, disgusted and frightened glances of people. I am not an immigrant. I was adopted when I was a child and I remember everybody used to love me. Everywhere I went, everybody was talking to me with joy, respect and curiosity. Now it seems that everything has turned upside down."
“I had been able to find a job which I had to leave because too many people, especially the older ones, refused service by me. As if I was not already not feeling at ease, they accused me of being responsible because many young (and white) Italians were not able to find a job."
Update: The player's father broke the silence over the letter and his son's cause of death. You can read it here.
Sadly, it doesn’t surprise me to read this tragic story of a young man dealing with the VERY REAL racism that is prevalent throughout most of our white culture….He must’ve needed the support of his employers…did he get that or was he told to toughen up…Be think skinned….or even worse that he was imagining it……..The world really needs to wake up to racism…and get serious….when a young man dies this and leaves a note explaining the reasons why he felt there was no other way out…is so very sad….where’s the empathy and compassion for …who everyday have to live with the looks and being treated differently purely because of his colour…..
So tragic. We all bleed the same way, no matter if you’re from Alabama in the USA, Zimbabwe, Toyoko we all bleed the same. Rest In Peace, From one soccer player to another
All the racist cowards out there, they will all burn in hell !!
