Filippo Galli former Rossoneri footballer certainly not in need of introductions spoke to calciostyle.it about AC Milan among other things, here are his statements:

Milan is doing well. Can we talk about the Scudetto?

"I have seen AC Milan doing well for a long time, they are proving with the results that they are a team that has found the right balance. The team is in front of theo thers with deserved credit, they had problems related to some defections related to Covid, but those who took the field proved to be up to it. So congratulations to Pioli, Massara, Maldini, and to everyone in general."

From defender to defender, how do you judge Fikayo Tomori's debut?

"He seems to be doing beautifully. He is a very aggressive player who also showed attention, he often follows the reference attacker even in the opposing half of the field. He joined Milan to reinforce a department that was already strong, but that needed numerical reinforcements."

Do you still see yourself with the other old glories of the past?

"Yes, even if we haven't seen each other for a long time, there is still a bond that holds us together. I often see Pietro Paolo Virdis, Franco (Baresi), I've been to Van Basten in the Netherlands and we've seen some stadiums. I also keep in touch on the internet, through the various platforms to which we all had to get used to a bit."

Do you think a deputy Theo Hernandez is missing? Who would you have wanted one?

"It is useless to keep putting other players in the squad. The squad is already deep, there is Dalot, Calabria can play both right and left, Davide is proving to be a modern full-back. I don't think there is a need for a replacement."

On Ibrahimovic and his impact on the locker room's atmosphere:

"I never met Ibra personally, but he was fundamental because he managed to encourage the guys who couldn't give the best versions of themselves. Everyone says that in training he demands from himself and from others, he raised everyone's level, he certainly helped the whole group. We have to thank Ibrahimovic and all the technical staff."

What do you think of Gabbia?

"He was born as a midfielder and we moved him to play at the central defense position with some effort. He had his experiences in Lega Pro and Serie C and is now back. He should be back to the fieldshortly, we hope he will be available for Pioli again soon because then there will be many commitments."

The game that has remained in your heart the most?

"The game we played against Steua Bucharest, seeing all these streets full of Rossoneri fans still gives me goosebumps."

The difference between Sacchi and Capello?

"Sacchi was a teacher, in Italy there was a football before and a football after Sacchi. A football based on the idea of commanding the game, with the idea of occupying the spaces, of making very high pressure. Capello was good when the Sacchi cycle ended, he managed to get the best out of all the players. He knew how to communicate with the players, in addition to the undoubted technical and tactical qualities."

Did anything happen between Gullit and Capello?

"Yes, something happened in the locker room between the two of them. That's true. Gullit then went to Sampdoria, but it wasn't due to that. The important thing is not to exploit it. I am not aware that Gullit has attached Capello to the wall as they say."

The funniest companion of all in your Milan?

"Tassotti was a funny one, our table was the table of the ignorant, there were Albertini, Simone, Nava, Weah, a goliardic table. Next to us, there was the captain's table, when we exaggerated, his gaze silenced us all. We used to play jokes on Seba Rossi because he said he was a fisherman and one day we made him find a swordfish head under his bed."

Which striker put you in the most trouble?

"There have been several, there are games in which I have marked guys like Maradona, Zico, Platini etc. But if I have to choose one, paradoxically, I don't choose between these, but Rumenigge because he was fast, physically structured, very difficult to face. Even Paolo Rossi was difficult, he had an incredible ability to unmark. In a moment, he'd be out of your range just like that."
