AC Milan Women defender Laura Agard spoke to the microphones of Milannews.it in an exclusive interview and gave some interesting insights on her career, why she left Fiorentina to join AC Milan and much more.
Here are some key points:
On her idols:
"Being French, my idol is Laurent Blanc and as a defender I can also mention Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta, two great former Defenders of Milan"
On the different stages of the Women's game in France and Italy
"In France, the path and investment of professional companies started earlier and then they are further ahead. In Italy, however, in recent years, the movement has grown a lot and the gap is narrowing."
On why she left Fiorentina to join Milan
"It was time to have another experience in Italy and I liked Milan's project. After talking to Mr. Ganz and the club I became even more convinced to join Milan."
On this season so far:
"For the time being, the balance sheet is positive. We definitely want to win a title but the league and the path is still long and so it is important to keep thinking game after game."
On having Maldini as Director:
"It is a pride to have someone like him in management. He conveys the values of the rossonere jersey that are elegance, passion, and family. He is a person from whom you can learn a lot."
On the support of the management and other Milan players:
"Yes. They came to see our games at Vismara so this is very important for us. Also on social media, we support each other with ‘likes’ from Romagnoli and Calabria who show attention. Maldini, Massara and Gazidis often follow us from the stands for many games. There is mutual interest in ours and the men’s team matches."
