Lucas Paquetà was brought to AC Milan by the management led by Sporting Director Leonardo in January 2019. Since then, under the coaching of Gennaro Gattuso, he has only showed few glimpses from what people were expecting in different occasions.
Just earlier, L'Equipe released an interview with the ex Milan midfielder where he talked about his experience at AC Milan. Here are his words:
"You know, at Milan, I put myself in a lot of pressure. It was too much, even. Therefore, when I arrived here, I have told myself that I would not do it again, and that I should give my best simply."
"At times, some aspects in football don't go as they're supposed to. You imagine some things and then you put pressure on yourself. It's unexplainable. Sometimes there is no reason for one's failure, even if my experience in Milan was not amazing, at least not the one that some people expected, it has helped me a lot because today I am a better player. I am a different Paqueta, a stronger Paqueta, a Paqueta who has found the essence of what he was at Flamengo."
On Juninho (Lyon's director) :
"He was really honest with me from the start when he had called me. He knew what I was experiencing there. But he knew who I was before AC Milan. He knew that I can return to that player who was at Flamengo, the one who fights for his team. Whenever I play now, I always want to thank Juninho and reward him."
On Leonardo (former Milan director) :
"Leonardo helped me a lot. After one year and a half with him, it went well. We can say that he was my mentor, yes. But later, he left for Paris, and right then, I felt a little bit lonely, and not exactly adapated to the culture and that club."
