AC Milan defender Diogo Dalot has granted an exclusive interview to Men's Health Portugal, where he has spoken about the decision of leaving his home country at a young age, and also touched on the topic of nutrition. Here are his statements:
On leaving Portugal:
"I would say that leaving Portugal at 18/19 also requires some ambition...To bet on your future. But I left with the conviction that it would go well, without any fear of what It could have happened. Mainly because I believed, and still believe, in my worth. But, above all, this departure brought me more responsibility. The dream of being a football player at the highest level and of being successful in my career has always had a greater weight, and I think it was good to have made some sacrifices, with the aim of evolving. I'm very happy with the pace and the decision I took at that moment."
On the importance of nutrition:
"Nutrition is a much discussed topic today and I have decided, especially this season, to deepen it and to invest a little more of my time in it, testing my body in relation to it, an essential way to prepare not only training, but also matches and an entire season. This is the season in which I have the most detailed and precise follow-up regarding nutrition, and I count on the help of the nutritionist Filipe Sousa. Curiously, coincidentally with this increased commitment to nutrition, this is the first season in which I have no type of injury or muscle problem. So I really believe that nutrition plays an important role."
