Monaco's promising center-back Chislain Matsima was one of the name reported to be monitored by AC Milan, as the Rossoneri were/are in the look-out for a young defender, in order to back club head coach Stefano Pioli with an additional option in the center of defense ahead of the next season.
Yesterday, the 18-year-old has extended his contract with Les Monégasques for an additional year, which makes his agreement now runs until June 2025.
“I am very happy to extend with AS Monaco. This extension is a mark of confidence on the part of the club, I am very proud of it and it is up to me, from now on, to give it back with work and performance. This season I had the chance to start in the top flight and had the opportunity to progress at all levels within the professional group. I will always thank the Club and Niko Kovac for giving me my chance at the highest level. This is just the start, I hope to help AS Monaco do great things in the future.” said the France Under-20 international.
For his part, club's vice-president Oleg Petrov has opened up about the future of Matsima: “This extension is a reward for what Chrislain has done so far and an encouragement for the future. Chrislain is a little more involved in the sporting project of AS Monaco, for the present but also for the future, and we are delighted about that”.
