The Croatian's contract is set to expire in 2023, but the parties are yet to reach an agreement, and many feel that the winger will be playing for new colors next season.
There are no shortages of potential suitors for Brekalo's services. He is closely followed by Athletico Madrid, as they look to reinforce after a title campaign, fellow Serie A club Roma showed interest in the player, as well as Arsenal from the Premier League. In previous years, clubs like Atalnta and Napoli were deterred from the profile following a high asking price, but now clubs feel comfortable with the price Wolfsburg is looking to claim for their player. The unofficial amount reported is around 12 million euros for the Croatian.
Athletico Madrid have reportedly made it known they are interested in Brekalo. Arsenal very much see the winger in their plans moving forward, and Roma, under manager Mourinho, look to bring in a replacement in the event of a Mkhitaryan departure.
Milan, too, find themselves in search of a winger to play out on the right. The 22-year-old has experience on both the left and right this season, and has appeared in 33 matches for his club. Milan will certainly have some competition for the profile, but at the reasonable asking price that is reported, the Rossoneri will be certain to follow the situation closely.
