Hitting the newsstands today, Tuttosport reported that Atalanta has joined the race for Italian full-back, and Milan target, David Zappacosta. The 28-year-old just wrapped up a loan year with Serie A side Genoa, and has one year left on his contract with Chelsea. Napoli initially put in a strong word for Zappacosta, but now Atalanta have seriously entered the race.
Atalanta have reportedly had multiple clubs contact regarding their outside midfielder Robin Gosens, who they value at 40 million euros. In the event of a sale of their German player, the club would be in need of a reinforcement to the wing. Zappacosta has experience on the right and left, much like Gosens, and would be a suitable replacement for the club. The Italian played for Atalanta back in the 2014-2015 season, and now the club are reportedly looking to bring the player back in, as they have already contacted the player's entourage.
Milan have made it clear they are looking for a rotational player that can fill in for both Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria. Dalot filled that role well this season, but with an expensive price tag attached to the profile, the Rossoneri have begun the search for a new full-back. Zappacosta is a well exepreined player in the league, and for the right price, would certainly interest those at Casa Milan.
