Davide Calabria, author of a good season this year with AC Milan under the management of coach Stefano Pioli, has become an important part of the squad. The player improved well in both phases of the game.
In an interview with Sportweek, Calabria gave the following statements:
"We reacted well to different moments. I was sure that we were going to make it through."
On the hopes of facing Leonel Messi:
"I think he's the best ever. It would be nice to play against him, a Milan-Barcelona match like in the old days."
On getting better:
"You definitely need talent to play at these levels. Then, you have the components, including the club's historical period. I think I have the qualities to be playing here: above all mental strength, resilience, the desire to remain here with this squad. I am still a little young, I can become stronger in everything. Playing the Champions League is a great leap because you'll be facing great players in great matches within a big competition."
On the club management:
"The praise of someone like Maldini or other club representatives make me happy. They advised me to think a little more 'selfishly' to believe in my means and use them to my advantage. At first, I was far too humble. In football, you must be aggressive and mentally strong. The sooner you understand there, the sooner you obrain results."
On Corporate differences:
"You understand this when there is a stable management. When that is missing, the club suffers inevitably. But, in recent years, AC Milan has not made us miss anything. Even in difficult moments, the club was strong in all aspects."
On Ibrahimovic:
"He pushed me and others to give my best. We have improved a lot since he's joined. I'm very happy because Ibra is one of us. What surprised me the most about him is his desire to win. For him, there is only victory."
On Theo Hernandez:
"Mother nature has given him physical power and speed that make him difficult to be stopped once he accelerates. However, I wouldn't say I envy him because everyone has his own characteristics. I'm happy to play with him, he's a good guy and works seriously", concluded Calabria.
