Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has spoken through the microphones of Il Giornale about Gianluigi Donnarumma. Here are his words:
“Unfortunately I think they both lost. What is surprising is the way in which the player has lost the opportunity to compete with his family in Europe. I've been there and I know how satisfying it is and he won't be able to prove it. He then was a great protagonist of the champions ride and he will not be able to do it with his family's shirt on. I say family because that's how I define Milan. As a man, then, he has lost some credibility because choosing to leave like this is never nice ... I understand the desire for a new challenge but he could have stayed at Milan for a few more years. The club has instead lost the opportunity to monetize from its sale but the thing that left me dazed is how the boy did not have the feeling of having troubled the club that made him grow that now finds himself with a handful of flies in hand".
