AC Milan could still sign Olivier Giroud despite his recent contract extension with Chelsea. He is the main target for the club to reinforce the attacking line.
Gianluca Di Marzio took stock of the situation and said the following:
"Giroud is the favourite for Milan, an individual who is ready and is still very well. He can guarantee for Milan the experience and reliability and that ability to play with the team that Pioli likes."
"AC Milan already had an agreement with the player: two years of contract for 3.5 million plus bonuses, but then Chelsea, which keeps these options unilateral due to expiring contracts, has renewed his contract. The agents confirm to Milan that the player can be released: the Rossoneri are waiting for Giroud's agents to exercise this sort of commitment with Chelsea and to respect this promise."
