As reported by The Athletic, Premier League club Leicester City have engaged in advanced talks with Milan target Patson Daka out of RB Salzburg. Leicester and Milan have both been in the market for a younger forward with experience, and Daka fits that role. The player was named the Austrian Bundesliga player of the season this past year with 27 goals and 7 assists. The 22-year-old Zambian has over 100 appearances for his club, and may be looking to make a jump to a more competitive club and league this summer.
Daka is on contract until 2024, and Salzburg have placed an initial price tag of 26 million euros for the player. Leicester are reportedly leading the charge for the profile, as they have been in discussions with the club and player for some time now, but have yet to submit an offer.
Milan are in need of a younger forward to grow in to the player they can solely count on for goal productivity in the coming years. Daka has certainly proven his skills in Austria, but playing in Serie A is much different competition. Maldini and Massara will continue to monitor the status of the Zambian, but Leicester could be in a prime position for the player's signature as of now.
