AC Milan are now looking seriously at candidates that should take over the playmaker role after Hakan Calhanoglu's imminent signing as a free agent to Inter.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the number one goal of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara is Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea.
The Moroccan international, 28, can play as a playmaker and as a winger as well which can be useful for coach Stefano Pioli. However, signing him would prove complicated as Chelsea invested a lot of money to get him from Ajax: around 40 million euros plus bonuses. The player earns a salary of 6 million euros per season, which is also a big sum.
There is an alternative for Hakim Ziyech in Milan's radar and that would be Dani Ceballos. The 24 year-old Spanish player could leave Real Madrid and Milan would try to take advantage of the good relationship with Los Blancos board.
The Spaniards would prefer to sell him immediately, but it is not excluded that the Rossoneri try to sign him on a loan move. Ceballos earns a salary of 3 million euros per season.
