AC Milan's pillar in the pitch Franck Kessie has an expiring contract by the end of the next season campaign. After losing Hakan Calhanoglu and Gianluigi Donnarumma on free transfers, renewing the contract of the defensive midfielder number 79 should be a top priority for the club.
Tuttosport explains in today's print edition that they would like to close the deal for Kessié's extension soon and quickly. However, it is not an easy feat because there is some distance to be filled between offer and demand. Paolo Maldini and Massara have put 3.8 million euros on the table while the midfielder's entourage continue to ask for 6 million euros.
'Il Presidente', as fans like to call him, earns currently 2.2 million euros. He just ended a great season with Il Diavolo that saw the team grab the qualification to the Champions League competition by finishing second in the standings.
The contract renewal situation is now on standby mode. Milan consider the Ivorian to be very important, even more than Calhanoglu who left on a free. Therefore, the club chiefs do not want to re-live the same experience of the Turk playmaker and Donnarumma.
There will more efforts stepped up to find an agreement with Kessié. Meanwhile, from the other side of the city of Milano, Serie A bitter rivals are keeping a close eye on the situation as they dream of doing a Calhanoglu-like operation.
