Marcel Sabitzer, Austria's national team star as well as Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig has a tricky contractual situation with his club.
In fact, the versatile midfielder's contract is set to expire in summer 2022 and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. His future is still unclear amid some rumours linking him to Milan despite him denying them.
The rumours continue to arise as they suggest that Sabitzer's future could be well away from the German team that he is playing for currently.
As reported by BILD, AC Milan remain on the trail of the 27-year-old player as well as AS Roma and Arsenal. He has a release clause which is worth 50 million euros. His transfer price cost, however, should be lower than that, if he were to leave on this summer, but also, it should be higher than the reported 17 million euros fee.
In January, RB Leipzig signed Dominik Szoboszlai who is seen by the club as Sabitzer's replacement in the future.
The source also points out that the possibility of playing in the Champions League would weigh greatly in the Austrian midfielder's choice regarding his future.
