To extend Franck Kessié's contract, a financial sacrifice is needed from Milan's part. The player has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and Serie A.
The AC Milan club board is aiming to confirm the player's stay for a few more years. However, the negotiations are not easy.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kessié wants a top contract "à la Ibrahimovic", meaning a similar salary. Milan offered 6 million euros plus bonuses. However, the request from the Ivorian's entourage is 8.5 million euros which would include bonuses, which is too much for the club's allocated budget for this operation.
The dialogue continues for now between both parties with Premier League clubs interested such as Tottenham and Liverpool who are willing to approach the economic demands of the player. However, the priority for Kessié is to remain at Milanello, but a compromise must be found.
