The last transfer operation for AC Milan club in the summer's transfer market was Junior Messias coming from Crotone. But, the Rossoneri were hoping to conclude a sale before closing the window, which did not materialise. The player in question is Samu Castillejo.
The Spanish number 7 is not the first choice for Stefano Pioli's lineup and his probable departure was reported widely as Getafe registered interest in the winger. But, with the player changing his agent and having many intermediaries, there was confusion.
Real Sociedad expressed the intention of signing the player. However, according to what is reported by Calciomercato.com, the negotiation with Milan collapsed 'right on the final finish line for a matter of details'.
As for Paolo Maldini and Massara, Milan's managing directors, they never forced a sale for the player. But, Milan wanted to renew the right flank in the last few weeks. The Rossoneri were also open for offers of loan with a buy-option for the former Villareal player.
Hertha Berlin sent a bid to Milan, but they wanted a significant discount on the player's card and there was simply not enough time to negotiate the pricetag before the transfer window in Germany had closed, and so the deal fell through as well.
Castillejo, for now, is a Milan player. But perhaps in January he will be moving away. His priority is a return to Spain.
