AC Milan and city rivals, Inter, are working side to side in order to build a new modern stadium to host their games. But, the project has not really started yet.
Christopher Lee, preisdent of Populous company that is a candidate to build the new stadium (The Cathedral template) spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
"I cannot go into details because we are in the race with a another company and I believe that no decision will be taken before the municipal elections in October. But we are very confident and believe in the qualities of innovation and sustainability of our plan. We believe that a successful project must respect the traditios. This is even more true in Milan, Italy. So we thought of citing iconic places in the city, to make it truly a 'Milanese' stadium. We wanted it to be immediately recognizable and to become attractive to those who live here as well. The idea of a sports stadium is important, but it is part of a much more ambitious project. The new San Siro, in our ideas, will be a new district. It will be a place to attend all day and every week."
