According to what is reported by the Turin-based newspaper in today's print edition, Tuttosport, AC Milan are indeed in the trail of Andrea Belotti of Torino who has a contract expiring at the end of the season (June 30, 2022).
The player seems unwilling to renew now with Torino and the Rossoneri management is paying attention to the situation as they see Belotti as a very good heir to Ibrahimovic.
According to the source, though, Paolo Maldini may just have to accelerate to sign Belotti in January rather than wait to sign the Italian attacker on a Bosman deal.
The reason behind the rush of the manager, writes the newspaper, is that Ibrahimovic and Giroud are struggling physically and could struggle more in the future due to their age. As for Pietro Pellegri, he is yet to convince and earn a continuous play-time at Milanello.
Signing Belotti in the next transfer session may not be that easy, though. Negotiations with Urbano Cairo are always difficult. Then, Il Diavolo will probably face important competition from city rivals Inter.
