AC Milan faced Genoa in a difficult stadium tonight, the Luigi Ferraris stadium, Andriy Shevchenko's team was no match to Stefano Pioli's Rossoneri who grabbed 3 important points by winning 0-3.
Genoa started the game with this following lineup:
3-5-2: Sirigu; Vanheusden, Masiello, Vasquez; Ghiglione, Rovella, Badelj, Sturaro, Cambiaso; Ekuban, Bianchi.
As for Il Diavolo club, here is how Pioli deployed his team:
4-2-3-1: Maignan; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Tonali, Kessié; Messias,Krunic, Diaz; Ibrahimovic
The game started well for Milan who took control with Genoa not really able to threaten Mike Maignan and the defensive department a lot.
The return of English centre-back Fikayo Tomori was certainly a great boost for Stefano Pioli. However, and unfortunately for the red and black faithful, Simon Kjaer had to leave within 4 minutes of the first half-time due to an injury. The player suffered pain in his knee and more evaluations will take place to assess his physical condition further.
AC Milan still managed to dominate, and soon enough, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a beautiful free-kick at the 10th minute. Later, Junior Messias scored during extra time with a beautiful header that was a little out of reach of Genoa's Sirigu. That was the Brazilian's second goal for Milan since his arrival, and both are headers. Later in the second half Messias continued his important performance and scored again (this time with the foot) thanks to an assist by Brahim Diaz.

The team was in control for the entirety of the 90 minutes, Genoa were not able to really create that much danger to put Milan into a lot of difficulty and trouble. Three crucial points are taken home. AC Milan remain second in the league table with 35 points, while Napoli, who dropped points against Sassuolo after drawing 2-2) are now first with 36 points. Inter are third with 34 points while Gasperini's Atalanta are trailing behind with 31 points collected.
This win is important for Pioli and his men. It is a deserved away victory. It should be able to boost the confidence after two league defeats. Now eyes are on the next challenge in the calendar: AC Milan will face Salernitana this Saturday at the San Siro.
