Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a guest this morning at Radio Deejay to speak about his new book 'Adrenalina: My Untold Stories'.
Here are his words:
"Me going to Napoli? At that time I saw pictures of Azzurri fans, it was incredible stuff. This adrenaline could take me further. I spoke to Napoli, Mino Raiola had done everything. The day I had to sign, they sacked Ancelotti. This gave me insecurity and from there I made another choice. It is not easy to be away from my family. The truth is that I should have spent four months at Napoli, won the Scudetto and returned home. Instead it went well with Milan. Whenever retirement approaches, I keep playing."
Ibrahimovic continued:
"I still charge myself, but I have much more experience than before. Before the game I am estranged and enter my world. I have a responsibility to my teammates. I am one of those who talks on the pitch and in the locker room, my teammates feel protected."
On the injuries:
"They had already called me a finished player at the age of 35. It's all in the mentality. When people say these things about me, I get more motivated. After the injury at Manchester I wanted to go back and play. For two years I have brought football to America."
On Leao:
"Leao convinced himself to run. However, he didn't come to me. He didn't run at first, I tried but I couldn't find a mental contact with him. I couldn't but in the preseason he exploded and started alone."
He concluded:
"The Ballon d'Or award does not depend on me. It depends on how they look at things. Not winning it doesn't change my career. I played in great teams, visiting different countries, learning new languages… then I won something", said Ibrahimovic, "In football and in life it is not just a question of talent, with work and sacrifice you can get where you want. Don't let yourselves be influenced but believe in yourself. In failure there is also success. We will do everything to win the Scudetto."
