AC Milan club technical area director, Paolo Maldini, is working to strengthen the team in January if an opportunity does present itself. But, the Italian manager must make his moves in the mercato carefully.
The first, and pressing, priority is signing a defender who can replace Simon Kjaer. The goal for the Rossoneri is Lille's star Sven Botman.
As explained by the daily Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport the French club need to sell in order to register some revenue in their books even despite already letting go of Jonathan Ikoné to Fiorentina. For this reason, it is rumoured that the Ligue 1 outfit could be willing to let go of Botman. The initial valuation was 30 million euros, but it seems that 20 million + bonus could close the deal.
As for Paolo Maldini, he is pushing to bring the player on a loan with a buy-option, which is the same formula that was used to sign Tomori from Chelsea. It should be noted, though, that Botman has suitors lined up for him besides AC Milan. Therefore, the competition is fierce.
