Franck Kessié's contract renewal has been causing a headache to the directors of the AC Milan club. The player is valued highly but his deal is set to expire at the end of the season. Ideally, the managers would not like to lose an important player for free, but it seems that the former Atalanta midfielder is leaning towards leaving once his deal runs out.
Sky Sport Italia's journalist Manuele Baiocchini discussed the situation and said the following:
"There are no big news. The parties have not heard from each other since last summer. The last meeting was in Bologna at the end of August in which Milan had formalized the offer of 5 million plus bonuses to reach about 5.8. Then the parties did not speak again. Milan had reached its maximum offer. As for Kessié, he did not want to take steps backwards from an economic point of view or from a professional ambition. We will see if Milan will make another attempt in the event that he does not receive proposals from other clubs."
