AC Milan technical director, Paolo Maldini, spoke to the microphones of DAZN ahead of derby kick-off and had the following statements to say:
"With Ibrahimovic, there is an open discussion. He knows, and does not pretend, what his situation is and what the possible agreement with Milan could be. If he doesn't feel like going ahead, he'll be the first to say 'I stop'. Injuries have been limiting him lately. Zlatan will never be a burden to this team. He is a resource."
On having Franck Kessié as attacking midfielder:
"Kessie gives a lot of balance and a few goals, the coach does the starting lineup also thinking about how to determine with the changes. If you put those who can change the game immediately then you find yourself without solutions."
Paolo Maldini on how he used to live the few hours before the derby:
"As a footballer I experienced it in an almost distressing way in the early years, in the last years I enjoyed it, regardless of the result. I won and lost by doing anything, superstitious rituals no longer exist."
