AC Milan showed courage and strength last night against their bitter rivals Inter as they managed to capitalise on the few chances they had and score 2 goals in what was a crazy comeback.
The 'hero of the night' was definitely Olivier Giroud who scored the 2 Rossoneri goals. The French centre-forward reached his 7th goal so far with Milan and he deservedly was shown a rating of 8. Following him, there is Mike Maignan who made crucial saves that kept his team in the game, he received a 7.5 rating. Sandro Tonali trails behind with a 7. Same for Brahim Diaz who had a good game last night and hopefully he can build on that performance and regain his strength and form.
Pierre Kalulu was shown a 6.5 rating for his effort while his teammate in the central area, Alessio Romagnoli had a 6.
Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao were also awarded ratings of 6 while Davide Calabria and Junior Messias were given 5.5 and 5 respectively as they should have definitely done more to help out the team. Theo Hernandez, who had to stop Denzel Dumfries in the last seconds of the game with a tackle from behind, thus receiving a red card, was also given a 5.
A truly disappointing performance was seen by two players however: Alexis Saelemaekers who was awarded a 4.5. Then a 4 for Franck Kessié, who was deployed as the attacking midfielder.
Nonetheless, it was an important victory for Olivier Giroud and his teammates. Now, it is time to build on this and continue to work hard in view of the next challenge which is against Lazio in the Coppa Italia competition this Wednesday.
