Olivier Giroud who has scored 10 goals so far with AC Milan with the number 9 on his back, has spoken to GQ, as relayed by Milannews.it. Here are his statements:
"The derby? In the first half, we knew we didn't play very well. In the second half we went out on the pitch confident that we could overturn the result."
He added:
"The derby is a special game, it gives you incredible adrenaline. Winning it with one of my braces, scoring both the nets under our Curva (Sud), it was a really strong emotion."
On the season:
"We haven't won anything yet, we have to keep fighting to the end. Milan has always been one of the most important clubs in the world: when you wear this shirt you always have to aim high, you can't be satisfied", said Giroud.
"This team is a nice mix of young and experienced players, led by a great coach like Stefano Pioli who encourages us to give our best every day. We are aware of our qualities and we will do everything to give satisfaction to our wonderful fans."
On his arrival to AC Milan:
"When I arrived here, I immediately felt a strong feeling of pride. Great French footballers like Papin and many football legends like van Basten, Ronaldinho, Kaká, Sheva played here."
Giroud on his first time 'Facetiming' with club technical area director Paolo Maldini:
"It was a strong emotion. He was and remains a legend of the game. He embodies the world-class level of such a club. Milan is a great club and you feel it everyday. Milanello is beautiful, the organisation is fantastic. There is everything to work well and give your best on the pitch."

On his connection with Italy:
"Both my grandmothers were Italian and I am proud of my origins. Playing in Italy in Milan and living here with my family makes me very happy. I love this country, its traditions and obviously the Italian cuisine, which is almost as good as French."
On his current form:
"I try to enjoy football as long as my body will allow it. It's true, I won a lot and I realized the dream I had as a child by winning the World Cup with France, but I am very ambitious. In every single team I played in, I always wanted to leave my trace", said Giroud before concluding, "I'm here at Milan to leave my mark and try to win trophies in a huge club like the Rossoneri."
