Legendary striker, Andriy Shevchenko, who wrote history pages with the red and black jersey at the San Siro has voiced his concerns and fears over his nation's situation amidst the current war with Russia.
Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine Thursday morning as the Russian military started launching strikes. The former coach of Genoa and Ukraine took to social media to say the following touching message:
"In the early hours, a full scale war was initiated by Russia. My people and my family are under attack."
"Ukraine and its population want peace and territorial integrity. Please I ask you to support our country and call the Russian government to stop their aggression and violation of international law", he wrote.
"We only want peace. War is not the answer."

AC Milan's coach, Stefano Pioli also discussed the current situation and had this to say during the press conference today:
"We talked about it before training, there is a lot of concern in all of us. There is dismay at what is happening. If there is one thing that can unite it is sport and therefore we must try to do our best."
Not just Shevchenko, Also AC Milan former player Kakha Kaladze issued a message in support of Ukraine:
