UEFA president Alexsander Ceferin granted an interview to the microphones of Corriere della Sera. He talks about various topics from the breakaway project Super League and the new Financial Fair Play:
"FFP? The pandemic has created problems for everyone, but for some it was a good excuse for their mismanagement. Financial Fair Play was born to eliminate losses in football, now we need to focus more on competitive balance."
On the salary cap idea:
"It goes against the European rules of work, but we can think of a ceiling on expenses. Easy to say, do like the NBA, but you can't. Are you sure you want that model? The most expensive ticket for the Champions League final costs 500 euros, at the Superbowl the cheapest one costs a thousand dollars."
Ceferin on the transfer market windows:
"We talked about removing the January transfer window, but then the pandemic blocked everything and now there is a war ongoing. We will resume the discussion later."
On the fear of the European Court of Justice on the Super League - UEFA affair:
"No not at all, it will be a symbolic decision. If they decide that UEFA is a monopoly, the three clubs can play their own UEFA, play their competitions. They want to be here and there, but it doesn't exist there, it's a metaphysical place. I think they also believe the world is flat. And then let's stop calling it Super League, let's call it for what it is: the Terrible League."
