The recent struggles of the team in scoring goals does not overshadow the accomplishments of the defensive area especially the centre-backs, Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori, who are working well together with Mike Maignan to keep clean sheets.

The 21-year-old French defender who has overtaken Alessio Romagnoli in the starting lineup has now become a fan favourite thanks to his consistency and quality. He is always ready to show his worth and is always available for the coach.
Milan Press praised the former Olympique Lyonnais's defender and wrote the following:
"In the 14 games played in that position (central defender) this season, Kalulu has contributed to a clean sheet 10 times... In 1265 minutes played in total in centre-back position, only 4 goals were conceded, 2 of which were scored by Spezia."
