AC Milan could not get a positive result tonight against Inter as they lost 3-0 against Simone Inzaghi's inter in the second leg fixture of the Coppa Italia semi-final.
Inter took the field with the following lineup:
3-5-2: Handanovič; Škriniar, de Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Brozović, Çalhanoğlu, Perišić; Correa, Martínez
The Rossoneri, on the other hand, took the field with this lineup:
4-2-3-1: Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernández; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leão; Giroud
Inter dominated quite well especially during the first 15 to 20 minutes where they also found a goal thanks to strong volley by Lautao Martinez from a cross of Matteo Darmian. The Argentinian striker was not closed down by Pierre Kalulu very tightly, and the little bit of space allowed him to shoot a very strong shot that Maignan, touched with his hands, but that was just not enough.

After that, Stefano Pioli's AC Milan tried to make some kind of reaction with Rafael Leao in particular who relied on his speed and dribbles. However, that was not enough. A lot of support was missing and Il Diavolo were not able to beat Samir Handanovic. Later in the 40th minute, the Argentinian forward made it a brace for himself after scoring from a counter attack with a composed finish against Mike Maignan.

In the second half, Milan tried to go forward even more especially with Brahim Diaz and Junior Messias who entered from the bench. There were some important attempts that could have perhaps been scored. Then, Ismael Bennacer was also denied a goal. A powerful shot was driven into the net, Samir Handanovic was fixed in his spot as the ball settled into the net with a lot of force and speed behind it. But, it was disallowed due to VAR for an offside on Pierre Kalulu who was allegedly blocking the view of Inter's goalkeeper.

AC Milan had a few shy attempts at goal. Nothing worked. Inter, overall, were the better team and even managed to score a third goal to seal the victory and make it 3-0 thanks to a goal by Robin Gosens in the 82nd minute. Now, the team of Stefano Pioli must return to working immediately, forget this defeat and focus on winning the rest of the 5 games of the season in Serie A.
