Napoli, De Laurentiis: “I had the agreement with Ibra. But, Gattuso told me we don’t need him”

Napoli's president spoke in a lengthy interview to DAZN. He spoke about the time Ibrahimovic was close to joining his club instead of AC Milan.

Here are his words:

"There was the agreement with Ibra. Then Ancelotti was exonerated and instead of him came Gattuso. He (Gattuso) called me and said: 'Trust me, we don't need Zlatan.', so I trusted him.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic talked in his recent book ("Adrenalina: My Untold Stories") about the possibility to sign for Napoli back then. He said that there was the agreement on everything, but when Carlo Ancelotti was sacked, he decided that he does not want to play for Napoli especially knowing that he is not the type of striker that Gattuso wants in his 4-3-3.
