Marco Giampaolo was AC Milan's manager for a brief period of time before getting relieved of his duties and having Stefano Pioli take over.

Since then, Giampaolo took the reins at Torino, and his stint there was not as successful as he would have hoped. He returned later to his ex club Sampdoria. He granted an interview to those at Il Giornale in view of his team's game against Inter at the San Siro. Here are his words:
"Milan? My past with them has nothing to do with the present. Now, I am at Sampdoria and Milan are doing their part which is being Milan. On the last day of the championship, the already relegated Venezia scores a point in Rome, we of Sampdoria, already safe, managed to win with Fiorentina who were playing for Europe. At this moment, the Serie A championship shows that the teams play their games, of course nobody likes making a bad impression."
