Sven Botman remains on the transfer market agenda of AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and his colleague Frederic Massara. The former Ajax player is left-footed has played 2848 minutes this season spread over 32 games across all competitions with 3 goals and 1 assist registed to his name.

According to the news reported by Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini remains in the front row to secure the arrival of the central defender thanks to an agreement with Sven's entourage. There is a 4-year deal ready with a post-tax salary set around 3 million euros excluding bonuses per season.
As for the talks with French club, Lille, negotiations are at an advanced stage on the basis of 30 million euros plus bonuses. Paolo Maldini has been working on this deal for months on end and would like to receive the green light soon to be able to close. However, everything now is on hold until the sale of the club goes through from Elliott Management Corporation to RedBird Capital Partners who are set to buy a majority stake of AC Milan.
Now, Newcastle are back in the running for Botman as Milan still await the finalisation of the takeover in order to operate in the transfer market window. Paolo Maldini is aware of the Premier League club's insertion to sign the defender. In fact, according to the same source, The Magpies have put on the table an important financial offer which is superior to the one proposed by the Rossoneri directors.

Sven Botman, though, still gives priority in favour of making a switch to the San Siro. He respects the agreement he has with Paolo Maldini. Next week may be decisive as a deal must be closed with Lille in order to beat the competition coming from Newcastle.
