Former AC Milan director Ariedo Braida spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport about the use of algorithms and data in football:
"In your opinion, what an algorithm could tell me about Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Savicevic, Shevchenko or Kakà? It told me about how many shots on goal they had made, how many with the right foot and how many with the left foot, how many headers they had scored and how they moved, yes. But, what of the personality and their attitudes towards their teammates? And what about their behaviour with the coach?"
Ariedo Braida added:
Those are things that the man, the manager, the president must evaluate, and they are not written in any algorithm."
