Filippo Galli, former player of AC Milan and friend of Paolo Maldini as they shared the pitch together for years, has spoken to the microphones of La Gazzetta dello Sport about the contractual situation at Casa Milan. Here are his words:
"It is a surprise for everyone. Both Maldini and Massara deserved the extension after the championship was over, for the final result but also for the process by which they arrived at the victory."
He added:
"I think the situation can be resolved shortly. Beyond the knots to be solved, I do not think the owners want to miss out on two professions like them. For Massara, a long career as a director full of experiences speaks for him. Paolo has shown that he knows how to move with great competence even as a technical director. His weight and his history is a guarantee for Milan."
Filippo Galli on a possible compromise:
"A compromise can and must be found, for the good of all. A halfway agreement, which allows Paolo to decide without conditioning and for the property to be able to give their opinion anyway. Everyone will have to put aside a little bit of pride, because Milan comes first. And there is a market to be set in motion."
On delaying the renewals:
"I don't think that a delay of a few days can change things: Maldini and Massara want to continue working to take the club even higher, to a second star on the shirt and to being protagonists in the Champions League."
