AC Milan directors are always keen on signing quality players in view of the current mercato session. The goal is always to provide head coach Stefano Pioli a competitive squad by the start of the new league campaign. But, there is also always the need to lock down the important players on renewals, such as Rafael Leao.
According to what is reported by the Turin-based daily newspaper Tuttosport in today's print edition, the Portuguese will likely have to pay the fine of 19 million euros to Sporting Lisbon, and it is precisely here that different scenarios could arise in view of the renewal with Milan.
As per the source mentioned above, in fact, his agent Jorge Mendes could try to take care of the debt to Sporting himself but, he woul raise the renewal request from Milan to 7 million euros plus an important agent's commission for him to be able to do that.
If this were to be the request from Leao and Mendes, Milan could find themselves at a crossroads: keep the number 17 increasing with a small economic sacrifice in the salary, or think of a possible sale next summer.
