AC Milan's Portuguese star left-winger Rafael Leao is wanted by Premier League club Chelsea. This news is confirmed by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport in today's print edition.
As per the source, Chelsea are still on Leao but Milan are resisting. Agent Jorge Mendes who represents the winger, thinks he can deliver the former Lille star to the Blues but he is yet to make a call to the champions of Italy.
The player is doing well within the red and black faithful and the club does not want to deprive themselves of him. The transfer operation is complicated and difficult and Chelsea will have to make an attempt very soon if they really want him. But, 150 million euros are requred to complete the move.
Jorge Mendes, however, has assured in the past that an offer shall arrive for Rafael Leao. He is not afraid to make an important deal in the last days of the mercato, a similar one to the one that saw Cristiano Ronaldo join Premier League club Manchester United.
The whole situation is complicated. If Gerry Cardinale, future owner of AC Milan, decides to renew deal of Rafael Leao it is necessary to take into account the compensation that the player must pay to Sporting. At the same time, the Portuguese star should not be let go as a free agent in 2024.
