AC Milan's new German centre-back, Malick Thiaw who is 21 years old, has spoken to Milan TV about his move to the San Siro. Here are his words:
"It's unbelievable, I still don't believe it. This is my first time here and it's great. I am really very happy and excited. As soon as the call came, I told my parents. This is a great opportunity for me and I am very happy to be here."
On the Italian championship, he said:
"In Serie A, there are excellent teams that do well in the Champions League as well. I follow Serie A and sometimes I choose Milan on the Playstation."
On the Bundesliga, he said:
"In Germany, the game is very tactical. You have to follow the coach's instructions. I always give 100% and I put passion into it. When you go out on the pitch you have to give 100%, you have no other choice."
Malick Thiaw on his idol:
"My idol was Yaya Toure because I was also a midfielder. I think I'm good at cover, in aerial duels and I'm pretty fast too. These are my strengths."
On his experience with the Schalke 04 team:
"I trained for a few months with the first team and it went well, it wasn't difficult because I've always trained hard. There is a lot of difference even in the stadiums, from one day to the next you play in front of 60 thousand people, the difference is certainly there but I have improved in this way."
Malick Thiaw concluded:
"I followed all season, especially in winter because there had already been contact with Milan. I tried to follow every game, what happened was incredible. Well done to them! I am very proud to be here and hope to play and debut as soon as possible."
