Dario Simic, former full-back of Inter, AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb, has spoken to La Gazzetta dello Sport in view of tomorrow's game between the Rossoneri and Dinamo Zagreb at the San Siro, a fixture valid for Champions League matchday 2 in group E. Dario is also a Milan scout. Here are his words:
"Who to cheer? It was an incredible coincidence. I cheer for Milan because it's the team I work for, but ... it's a big effort."
On Dinamo Zagreb:
"An experienced team, not too different from the one that beat Atalanta in 2019. For me, they will defend themselves, against Chelsea they played 5-3-2."
On Dinamo Zagreb's star, Mislav Orsic:
"Orsic for Dinamo is a phenomenon. He is modern, he knows how to score. He has only had a complicated path, he was in Serie B in Spezia, in Korea but now he is a strong player."
Simic on working as a scout for AC Milan:
"Yes, we work as a team, then Maldini and Massarae decide. Moncada is my boss, I talk to him every day. As a principle, we try to be fast, because abroad - the British, but not only - have budgets with which we cannot compete."
On the secret of the Scudetto:
"Paolo is a fan, as well as being a manager. He loves Milan, Milan is his home and this helps a lot. People have recognised him and there is an atmosphere of great passion: they recognise that something important is happening at Milan."
Simic on the profiles they are looking at:
"We are looking for profiles for modern football. Of course, sometimes they cost 50-70-80 million and you have to go and get them first. Other clubs pay for the potential, which Milan cannot always do, also because Serie A is not easy. The level has risen."
Dario Simic talks about his son, Roko Simic, a striker of RB Salzburg:
"We talked about him (with Milan) but in the end he went elsewhere. Roko is a 2003 class and the Red Bull group wanted him to play for Salzburg... He looks a bit like Mandzukic in his desire to play and help the team."
