FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke during the New York session of the FIFA Diploma in Club Management on the future of football. These are his words, in which he underlines the importance of creating new top teams, especially outside of Europe:
"Clubs have to achieve better and better standards, because it is true that there is a gap between some countries in Europe - not all of Europe, but some countries - and the rest of the world, so I am happy that you represent the whole world. What we need to do is close the gap, not lowering the standards of the big European clubs, because they too must continue to grow, but the rest of the world must also grow and ensure a more competitive world of football."
Infantino added:
"In the future, there must be at least 50 clubs around the world capable of winning the Club World Cup: now 20 of these clubs will be European and that's okay, but the other 30 must come from the other five continents and this will be fantastic", as relayed by Milan Press.
