AC Milan star left-winger Rafael Leao, has spoken in an interview to the microphones of UEFA. He discussed the difficulties he faced as a child:
"I was destined to play football, I lived in a poor neighborhood and it was not easy. If we believe in ourselves, we can go far."
Leao on joining AC Milan:
"I left Sporting at 19 and stayed at Lille for only one season. When Milan contacted me it was a joy. I was happy, but also anxious because in a moment I am at one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I couldn't say no. But getting to a new club at 19 isn't easy. I felt like I couldn't handle the pressure, I couldn't respond positively on the pitch."
Leao added:
"I couldn't miss the opportunity to prove what I was worth, the club was not going to sell me. He believed in me. That vote of confidence helped me grow and improve. Today, I feel I am a precious asset for the team and for the club, on the pitch I can help my teammates."
