In the usual post-game press conference, Stefano Pioli sat down for a few minutes to talk to the journalist present after the game between Hellas Verona and AC Milan at the Bentegodi stadium. The gaffer spoke this way to comment on his side's victory:
"We got off to a good start. Could we close it? No, but she would have taken a more favourable direction."
Is this another sign of growth for AC Milan?
"We knew very well what Bocchetti would do, he wants to continue a path that Verona knows well, so the positions were those, even if I didn't think Depaoli was playing. They induced some mistakes with the pressure, some mistakes we made. But winning these tough games means we are growing mentally and in awareness, and that we never give up. This is a quality that my team has inside and knows how to bring out in important moments."
On Malick Thiaw and Yacine Adli, Pioli said:
"For Yacine it was not an easy match, but I expected it; We were hoping to find him a little more between the lines, he moved well on the pitch. Thiaw has entered well and he has some important qualities."
Yesteday, Chaka Traoré scored a hat-trick with the AC Milan Primavera team...
"We know Chaka Traorè, I did not see yesterday's goals, he is doing important things as well as all of the Primavera and we are following him with interest."
How much does this Milan convince you? Could the expenditure of energy with Chelsea have influenced?
"I know we can play better and the boys know it too, but character growth is important and allows us to overcome difficult obstacles like these. We hope to be able to recover some energy and also some players: an important period awaits us, of matches that I don't say will be decisive for the whole season, but we come close."
