With the recent extension of Pierre Kalulu's contract, AC Milan continue to plan for more similar deals with other important players.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri club have been successful at finding agreements with Pierre Kalulu, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Tommaso Pobega, Matteo Gabbia, Theo Hernandez, Fikayo Tomori, Sandro Tonali and Rade Krunic which already costs important figures in 2022. Besides that, Milan, added to the books the permanent signings of Junior Messias and Alessandro Florenzi who were on loan last season without forgetting the extension of Antonio Mirante's deal.
For all these transactions, in particular for the eight contract renewals, Milan have already invested a sum equal to 107 million euros. This figure is regarding the sum of money that will be granted to players as their salaries from this year until the end of their respective contracts.
Paolo Maldini, in this way, ensured that a core of Pioli's squad remains until at least June 2026: Kalulu, Tomori, Tonali, De Ketelaere, Theo Hernandez, Maignan, Origi, Pobega. To these names, however, we will try to add at least three more who are Olivier Giroud, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao. These targeted contract extensions however, will also cost a lot more due to the demands of the players: around 100 million euros would need to be committed.
For the French striker the extension seems simply a formality: he is in shape, the will is mutual. As for the Algerian midfielder, however, there would still be great optimism, despite the fact that the number 4 does not enjoy the benefits of the Growth Decree as he was signed from Italian club Empoli. Bennacer's request is for 4 million euros and a deal could be found around those figures.
As for Rafael Leao, AC Milan have more difficulties. The management knows well that satisfying the requests of a player too easily leads to inevitable consequences, at the level of requests, even for teammates. In the specific case, then, Leao has further complications due to the fine to be paid to Sporting Lisbon. What remains indisputable, however, is that the club will always try to maintain a basic balance, as relayed by Milannews.it.
