Club football is now on hold as the World Cup is approaching. AC Milan directors, however, continue to think of ways to keep important players in the squad. In fact, after many renewals already secured and signed in the 2022 year, the idea is to continue on the path as Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara want to work further with Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer.

According to what is reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, the most complicated deal is the one with Rafael Leao. No progress has been made since several weeks now already. The player has been legally required to pay 20% of his salary to Sporting Lisbon every year. That is why his entourage are asking for more than 7 million euros net per season in order to extend the winger's stay at Milanello. They want a big salary so Leao can pay the fine to his old Portuguese club.
As for Ismael Bennacer the request is around 4.5 million euros. His current net salary is just around 1.5 million euros. The situation of the Algerian player is less complicated than his Portuguese teammate.
