Telivision rights is an important matter for the Serie A clubs as it can represent a significant amount of revenue. La Gazzetta dello Sport shed light on the issue by writing the following headline:
"TV rights for 5 years."
That is the proposal of Senator Claudio Lotito, also president of Lazio, as an amendment to the Aid Decree is being considered.
The intention is to extend the contracts from the current 3 years to 5, thus allowing for higher revenues. The proposal has already received the ok from both the Serie A offices and the Italian Minister of Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi.
The minister himself is thinking about some rules that could help increase the competitiveness of the entire Italian football system: anti-piracy laws and the possibility of sponsorship by betting companies.
