While waiting to understand when AC Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan will be able to return to the field, Milan don't want to be caught unprepared in case of bad news relating to the Frenchman's condition: they are currently evaluating an interesting idea.
According to what is reported by Tuttosport in this morning's print edition, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara could make an attempt at landing Marco Sportiello in January's transfer market window.
Serie A side, however, Atalanta, are not too keen on letting Sportiello leave to AC Milan in the coming mercato session. For their part, they do not think that it would be easy for them to find a second goalkeeper in January who would be able to fill the shoes of 30-year-old Italian shotstopper Marco Sportiello.
If signing Sportiello in January proves to be impossible for the red and black faithful, they will then try to look for a temporary solution: a 6-month long loan signing, just like how they signed Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic two years ago.
