To renew the contract of Rafael Leao, AC Milan are required to do much more work than in the case of Ismael Bennacer. The Portuguese left-winger's contract is set to run out in June 2024 and the club management are always working out ways to satisfy him and keep him happy at the San Siro.
According to what is reported by Calcio Mercato, the Rossoneri management are willing to raise their offer up to 7 million euros net per season for their star. However, that may not be the factor which would guarantee the success of the negotiations.
In fact, there are two problems. The first is the interest of English Premier League clubs who have much more resources and are willing to pay more money than the Italians in terms of salaries. The second obstacle is the fine owed to Sporting Lisbon. Leao and his representative could ask for financial help with the penalty that must be paid.
A meeting should take place, however, between the Italians and Leao's entourage at the beginning of the new year and then we'll see if any new updates emerge.
