AC Milan's head coach, Stefano Pioli, saw his team let go of a precious victory at the San Siro in the final minutes of the game. They were leading 2-0, but AS Roma scored 2 goals in the last minutes from two set-pieces. Here are the words of the Rossoneri gaffer after the fixture which was valid for matchday 17 of Serie A:
"The changes had the aim of putting in fresh energy", he told DAZN, "An extra midfielder and to raise our line. A great shame not to have won a game like this."
He added:
"Playing so many matches physically charges you up to a certain point as preparation, I don't think our problem is our physical condition."
Pioli on the renewals of Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer:
"I would stop talking about contracts and injuries and just talk about matches. I see guys who are happy and who always give their best, that's the important thing."
On AS Roma's game:
"Dybala looked for the foul and Vranckx was a little too aggressive. The final minutes changed to 2-1. Then they tried until the end, we had to defend better in those situations. Sorry I didn't win. We had prepared it well and we played it well. We will calmly analyze the game."
