Frenchman Hervé Renard is a coach who made himself famous thanks to his great work with the Morocco national team in the past and also his recent strong performance with the Saudi Arabia national team who beat Argentina in the World Cup. He spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport in view of the Supercoppa Italiana fixture which will be played in KSA, Riyadh. Here are his words:
"My preference? I have several friends at Milan: Maignan was one of my players, it's a pity he isn't there. And then Giroud, exemplary. He doesn't surprise me because in addition to being a great player, he is a serious person. He won with Montpellier, not easy, between Arsenal and Chelsea he learned a lot and now has an extraordinary maturity. I felt like laughing when in 2018 they criticized him because he didn't score in the national team. He knows how to do many things and that's why he's still there: France has many young players but he is always at the top. And it's not easy for a striker to maintain a certain level at the age of 36."
Hervé Renard continued:
"I think Milan and AC Milan have great weight in this sense: a big city and a big club."
